Cleaning a glass pipe.
I rinse my GRAV spoon with hot water every evening. That's usually enough. But even with a spoon there are a few places that need a little more love.
Here are a few suggestions on how to make your favorite glass pipe crystal clear again.
Preparation:
- Disassemble the pipe: In most cases, the pipe can be disassembled into several parts, such as the bowl, mouthpiece and chillum.
- Closure: Close all openings of the pipe with something, such as a cork or cotton wool, to prevent the cleaning solution from spilling.
Cleaning methods:
1. Isopropyl alcohol and salt:
- Mixture: Fill a container with isopropyl alcohol (at least 70%, more is better) and add some salt.
- Soaking: Place the disassembled pipe into the mixture and let it soak for at least 30 minutes.
- Shake: Close the container and shake it vigorously to loosen the deposits.
- Rinse: Rinse the pipe parts with warm water to remove the alcohol and salt.
- Dry: Allow the pipe to dry completely before reassembling.
2. Baking soda and vinegar:
- Mixture: Make a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. The amount depends on the size of the pipe.
- Soaking: Place the disassembled pipe into the mixture and let it soak for at least 15 minutes.
- Brush: Use a pipe brush to loosen the deposits.
- Rinse: Rinse the pipe parts with warm water to remove the baking soda-vinegar mixture.
- Dry: Allow the pipe to dry completely before reassembling.
3. Dishwashing liquid:
- Disassemble: Disassemble the pipe as described above.
- dishwashing detergent: Fill a container with warm water and add some dishwashing liquid.
- Soaking: Place the disassembled pipe in the dish soap mixture and let it soak for 10-15 minutes.
- Brush: Use a pipe brush to loosen the deposits.
- Rinse: Rinse the pipe parts with warm water to remove the detergent.
- Dry: Allow the pipe to dry completely before reassembling.
Additional tips:
- Pipe cleaners: Use pipe cleaners to clean the holes of the pipe.
- Ice cubes: Add ice cubes to the cleaning solution to improve cleaning.
- Constipation: If the pipe is clogged, you can try to clear it with a straw or needle.
- Regular cleaning: Clean your pipe regularly to avoid stubborn deposits.
A notice:
- Do not use harsh cleaning agents such as bleach or acetone as these may damage the glass pipe.
- Be careful when cleaning the pipe to avoid breaking the glass.
With these tips your glass pipe should look like new again and taste delicious!
